To be fair, I think Verstappen is good enough of a driver where he wouldn’t be lapped like this anyway.

*That being said, I am a massive Verstappen fan. I fully admit I am also very biased.

I haven’t seen anything t hat said whether ocon had received a blue flag. If he had, then the penalty was deserved. If he hadn’t, then he should be allowed to race and max clearly did not leave him room.

Ocon was re-passin g verstappen. No blue flags as he is allowed to pass and unlap himself. Ocon dove too hard, verstappen decided to slam the door on ocon’s foot. And then it played out as it did. C’est la vie.

Hamilton said it best to him afterwards - He had everything to lose, Ocon had nothing to lose, and Ocon was faster. Fine, it was Ocon’s fault more than Max’s in that Ocon wasn’t halfway past Max into the turn , but he didn’t have to be in that situation to begin with. We see Red bull is defending him in public but I bet he has to answer for that behind the closed doors.

Hadn’t Verstappen just driven by him? I’ve only seen bits and pieces of the race at this point because I haven’t had time to watch the whole thing, and the videos of the crash that I’ve seen don’t really show the 20 seconds leading up to it.

Ocon was going to go outside but backed out a bit but still held the inside line for the second part of the turn. But Ocon was going for a pass.

Well at the start of the S, he was *past* verstappen but that isn’t the best line so Max got ahead but yes, Ocon was well between the front and rear tires when Max slammed it on him.

They were level, not even just Ocon front wing to Max rear wheel. Max had no right to turn into Ocon as Ocon was the one doing the passing.

The fact that he was a backmarker was irrelevant because he wasn’t being shown a blue flag and had every right to unlap himself just as much as if he was racing for position
